RedShift BioAnalytics Inc.(RedShiftBio), is a company providing next-generation platform technology enabling measurement of previously undetectable structure changes in biomolecules. We are a leading vendor of analytical instruments for the characterization of protein therapeutic drugs during development and manufacturing. The instruments are based on microfluidic modulation spectroscopy, a novel  proprietary technology developed by RedShiftBio that provides the first fully automated, highly sensitive and reproducible IR measurement platform for protein secondary structure measurements.

We are looking for a Controller/ Director of Finance to oversee and manage the company’s accounting and finance needs. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. The position, reporting directly to the CEO, will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s finances, and includes managing a team of contractors and vendors providing bookkeeping and  accounting support. The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and doing whatever needs to be done from basic accounting to assisting with strategic planning and investor/board communications. The person could also help manage other administrative functions such as human resources, IT, and facilities. This role is seen as a potential transition role to CFO in the future.

Job Responsibilities:

• Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions

• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results

• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements

• Coordinating activities of external auditors

• Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process

• Managing the budget process

• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes

• Evaluating accounting and internal control systems

• Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

• Developing and monitoring business performance metrics

• Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance

• Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field

• 10+ years proven accounting experience

• Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA, or CA

• Working knowledge of finance, law, and regulatory standards (GAAP)

• Strong understanding of economic and banking processes


Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager

• Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis

• Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes

• Exemplary history of financial project management

• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting

• CPA highly preferred

• Experience supporting or managing HR, IT, Facilities, and other responsibilities a plus

• Position based in Burlington, MA, flexible hybrid schedules possible
