Spotlight on Aurora: One Drop Protein Characterization

January 9, 2024

Meet Aurora, RedShiftBio's third-generation flagship system, featuring novel Microfluidic Modulation Spectroscopy (MMS) technology and is the solution to structural characterization, delivering ultra-sensitive and precise higher-order structure (HOS) measurements of biomolecules from just one drop of sample.

Aurora is a space-saving, all-in-one analytical unit with which users can compare HOS structure, similarity profiles, structure similarity, etc during discovery, screening, formulation, and quality control of biopharmaceuticals. A wide range of biomolecules such as mAb-based biotherapeutics, proteins, enzymes, peptides, ADCs, AAV, and mRNA can be characterized using the Aurora MMS platform.

MMS is a novel spectroscopic technology that directly addresses the limitations of current methods by facilitating direct, label-free analysis of secondary structure over a wide concentration range in complex formulations without the need for buffer exchange or dilution. It is 20x faster and 30x more sensitive to change in structure than CD or FTIR. MMS's high resolution (<0.001 cm-1) and low stray light susceptibility increase the linear concentration range for the measurement by more than 2 orders of magnitude.
